Fear is what drives him. It is the raw material of what makes him brave.
He is a tailor, a friend and a lover of men; yet, he creates elaborate pieces of art for women. He uses his hands because that is all he knows.
The love of thread and textiles was an innate vigor from a young age. He remembers his “cool” aunt would keep a drawer full of threads and old scraps of textiles when he would visit. His mother hated that he was not going to become a doctor.
Fear was present there too; but without fear he would not know what it means to be brave.
